Dear Community of the Faculty of Philosophy,

It is with pain that we received the notification of the death of Artur Mrówczyński Van-Allen, who died on May 6, 2022. Mr. Artur Mrówczyński was a great friend and collaborator of the Faculty of Philosophy of UPJPII, as well as our graduate. He was active in many areas and tirelessly worked to bring about greater knowledge of Christian philosophy and the Polish experience of Solidarity. It is impossible to recount all of his ideas and initiatives in the fields of science and culture. Mr. Mrówczyński was one of the pioneers who initiated cooperation between the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow and the IFES institute in Granada. From 2014 to 2019, Mr. Mrówczyński co-organized the "Krakow Meetings" conference series. He inspired the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow and the NSZZ "Solidarność" to establish the International Center for the study of the Phenomenon of Solidarność, which Mr. Mrówczyński was an active part of since its inception in 2018. Although the earthly life of our dear friend Artur Mrówczyński has come to an end, his contributions to the activities of our Faculty have become part of his intangible heritage. The works he began or supported will continue to serve Christian philosophy and the Polish culture. 

Some of us knew Artur privately and found him a zealous Catholic, father, and husband. He was an erudite and passionate man, who spoke beautiful Polish and had an original sense of humor. This is how we will remember him.

We surround his relatives and friends with our prayers and loving remembrance. We ask for him eternal peace in the Father's house.
