ECTS and Grading Scale

Our University takes the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) very seriously. On average, students earn 30 ECTS points per semester. 1 ECTS point is the equivalent of 25-30 hours of the student's work. Usually, this means the student's workload is between 750-900 hours (Polish law specifies 50% of these hours should be in contact with the teacher).

A lecture with 2 ECTS points and 30 hours means that, apart from participation in classes, the student is supposed to work an additional 20 to 30 hours outside of class (essay presentation, exam preparation, readings for classes etc - please check the syllabus of a particular class).

Passing the subject means realizing the learning outcomes and earning the ECTS points that are assigned to the subject. However, in case of exams and grades, you will receive a numerical grade:

2.0 = fail, no ECTS

3.0 - lowest positive grade

3+, 4, 4+ - grades between the minimum and maximum

5.0 - the best possible grade in our educational system
