Opinions of the Graduates
The first edition of MA Studies Philosophy in English was held during the difficult times of pandemia and online education. Despite difficulties, we managed to finish successfully. Here are some of the testimonies of our graduates.
From Hela...
"I am very thankful to UPJP2 for the opportunity it gave me and for the great atmosphere it provided during studies. I learned a lot and I will carry the knowledge I gained with me all my life. Thank you UPJP2 for the amazing two years and thank you to all the Professors for being so kind!"
From Mohamed...
Without the help of my family, professors, mentors, classmates, and friends, this journey would not have been possible. I would like to express my gratitude to my dissertation committee in particular, here at the department of Philosophy at UPJPII in Krakow, Poland. I owe Dr. Jakub Synowiec a debt of gratitude for his time and meticulous attention to detail. I appreciated Rev. Prof. Wladyslaw Zuziak’s unwavering support and advice throughout my journey and the help of Dr. Jakub Synowiec, who pushed me to obtain this degree and has mentored me for nearly my entire academic career.
Writing a thesis is a unique experience. Getting the structure and story perfect was the most difficult part for me. When it came to the structure, I found that breaking it down into headings, subheadings, sub-subheadings, and so on worked best for me when I was struggling (and, to be honest, even when I wasn’t). With the close contact and help of my supervisor, Dr. Jakub Synowiec, I was able to structure my thesis according to the standard requirement of the MA thesis. My thesis had a clear narrative that my supervisor and I had discussed as I went along, so when I started writing, I knew exactly what I needed to say. I also had a tight deadline due to a job offer, which may have helped the process because I had no choice but to complete it; the second half of it took roughly 6 weeks to write.
I was quite eager to complete my studies. I was already suffering from a severe case of burnout when the pandemic hit and Covid considerably worsened it. The biggest sigh of relief I’ve ever felt was when I passed my diploma exam (the defence of the MA thesis) and graduated. I was so stressed about the exam, but I put forth my best effort to make sure my dream came true. The exam was not really bad, and it was conducted in a professional way - by both the board members and my supervisor. I am so proud to be the first Sierra Leonean graduate of MA of Philosophy in English at the Pontifical University of John Paul II (UPJP2) in Krakow, Poland."

From Jacob
"My time at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow was marked by incredible mentorships with my professors, cultural experiences with new friends, and an intellectual journey through the philosophical patrimony of the Church I continue to unpack to this day. I was blessed to have all of these experiences in the beautiful medieval city of Krakow; where I learned the deep history of Poland which is marked by many important historical figures and Saints who marked Europe’s deep history. UPJPII allowed me to embark upon a deep dive into the philosophical and theological history of Europe that I desired as an American graduate student.
UPJPII is a wonderful academic institution that will give you the tools to understand your research field of research, while also assisting you to prepare a thesis that is well-prepared and innovative to your topic of study. I hope that you make use of the opportunities that UPJPII has to offer in their ‘Philosophy in English’ program. You will not regret coming to Krakow to study in the city of St. John Paul II!"
