PhD in philosophy

The Doctoral School of our university provides full-time and part-time doctoral studies in philosophy in Polish. These studies are for Polish and international students. Polish citizens, EU citizens, EFTA citizens, and holders of the "card of the Pole" (Karta Polaka) can all engage in full-time studies without tuition fees.

Doctoral studies in philosophy prepare students for third-cycle qualifications. These grant the degree of "doktor" (Ph.D.), which is awarded upon the completion of the doctoral assessment process.

Studies prepare the individual for independent scientific work in philosophy by guiding them through the Ph.D. thesis, which "shall constitute an original solution to a scientific problem or an artistic achievement, as well as providing evidence of the candidate's general theoretical knowledge and understanding of a given discipline of science".

Doctoral studies also prepare the student for teaching philosophy. Each year, the doctoral student is required to undertake practical internships involving teaching or participation in the delivery of teaching (10 hours per year).
