Rev. prof. Grzegorz Hołub
Fr. dr. hab. prof. UPJP II Grzegorz Hołub has been the Director of the Interdepartmental Institute of Bioethics since 2020. His scientific achievements include three original books. He is a co-editor of many collective works and scientific articles published in Polish and English. He belongs to several scientific societies, both Polish and international (The Council for Research in Values and Philosophy, The American Catholic Philosophical Association, Association of Bioethicists in Central Europe, International Center for Research on the Phenomenon of Solidarity, Polish Bioethical Society, and the Tadeusz Center for Christian Ethics). Rev. prof. Hołub also participates in the work of the Federation of Catholic Universities of Europe (FUCE) as part of the project "European Humanism in the Making".
In his research, Rev. prof. Hołub addresses issues such as the methodology of bioethics, detailed problems present in bioethical debates, as well as the ethical problems of ecology. In recent years, he has focused his research efforts on the anthropological aspect of bioethical debates, in particular the philosophical reflection on human improvement.
Rev. prof. Grzegorz Hołub's field of interests also includes the theory of the human person, or even - the philosophy of the human person. He strives to delve into the concept of the person in contemporary bioethical debates, as well as in other discussions unique to specific fields of ethics. Recently, his interests include the concept of Karol Wojtyła, which he tries to confront with contemporary theories of the person, especially those developed in Anglo-Saxon philosophy.
